I have been to this restaurant many times, and it consistently delivers excellent food. During my recent visit with a group of six, we ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was delicious. Soup dumplings, Peking ducks, Chinese squash, salty soy milk, spicy fish fillets. The quality and flavor of the food never disappoint. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a consistently great dining experience! Service was quick and good!
Whether take out or dine in, it is a must to order their roast duck buns! Excuse to those saturated fat-haters, but the exquisitely crispy skin is the key to their infamous duck buns. I swear, I didn't see it posted on their take out menu. So you may have to mention it out. Is it secret? I suspect. But definitely worth the try. The duck bun portions are small, so you may have to order multiple. For those non-Chinese speakers, don't be afraid to come in as their staff is rather friendly on top of being fast and efficient. There is also spacious seating and it is accessible to the LIRR (three houses away).
Came here for dim sum and it was alright. They didnt have the carts but you order thru menu and they bring the dishes to you. In terms of dim sum i'd say Canton Manor taste much better than this place, and this place is a bit cheaper than Canton Manor, thats a plus for ya. I'd say come to this place when you find Canton Manor's wait long since this isn't as popular ; )
I was hungry and I wanted to try out a restaurant in bayside and my stomach brought me to you garden . I came across this restaurant and decided to try their roasted pork and honey roasted wings because they looked pretty banging on the window . Little did I know that I could not order the rice platter version and that i would have to order them in lbs if I do want them for dining in. The waiter explained to me that I could only order the rice platter version as to go and not dine in . I was very disappointed so I decided to order the pork with rice came . It came out ok not the best but what redeemed themselves Is the complementary soup dumplings ! I was gona give it 3 starts but because of that they get a extra star for being so generous .
I just finished having dinner at Shanghai You Garden in Bayside. The experience from start to finish was top notch! The staff here really are very polite and their timing is impeccable. They seemed to have a keen eye for when you're finalllly ready to order (I sometimes take forever) or when you need assistance with something. For dinner we ordered the scallion pancakes, turnip cake, pan fried noodles with shredded chicken and pork buns. The portions were huge and every single dish was a winner. While I could have easily forced myself to finish with no regrets, I took about 1/3rd home for leftovers. I'm no psychic but I'd wager that they get devoured before bedtime. Pro tip: Be sure to dine in and spend $10 min (super easy) to score a free round of soup dumplings!
Came here for lunch. Highly recommend you make a reservation if you have a large crowd. We got lucky and was able to get a table with a minimal wait. Restaurant was pretty busy Saturday during lunch time. Staff was friendly and attentive we order a bunch of dishes to try. The speed in which the food came out was amazing. We love that they offered free peking duck baos for everyone at the table. The steam dumplings were so juicy and flavorful. The fried pork buns were also juicy and food. The fried rice and noodles had really good flavor. We enjoyed pretty much everything we ordered. The menu was so big we will have to go back to try some of their other stuff!
Came here on a Saturday evening, with 5 people... there was a 10-minute wait, so it's not bad. As a dine in option, they give you free soup dumplings, or parking duck bao....1 per person... we went with the bao because we were going to get soup dumplings anyway. The bao was a delicious start to the meal... they brought out the ingredients separately, and you built your own... which was fun and cool that you decided what to put in it... the duck was a single piece per bao... but enough.. We tried the pork and Indian aster soup dumplings... Indian aster is apparently a mix of Chinese greens.... it was divine!!!! It added so much flavor to the dumpling! You must try it!.... although my husband preferred the classic.. The croaker is a type of white fish that they make into fish fingers and then bread with batter that has seaweed in it... this was disappointing. There was not enough fish, the batter was bland... don't bother with it.. The cucumber salad added a really nice balance to heavy pork... The rice cakes were not very flavorful... But the 5 stars really are for the pork dumplings. Oh, and they have you a free dessert... it was okay... And the tea was red tea.. so, yummy. The place was packed, but service was efficient. You can also buy their Stuff frozen..
Got: Beef noodle soup, pork and pickled veggie noodle soup, chili wontons, duck and vermicelli soup, sautéed rice cakes with pork and mustard greens, Peking duck, sal Price: ~$13 per bowl of noodles, ~$7 dollar for everything else. Entire meal was $90 Value: 10/10
My family and I come here regularly (probably at least 1x a month), and this is the ONLY place we will get soup dumplings in New York. They have an amazing deal, where if you order more than $10, you get a free order of soup dumplings. Everything is super fresh and the quality is consistently amazing. We always order the same dishes, with a few new ones here and there, but our staples besides the soup dumplings (pork is best) are: 1. Scallion Pancakes with Beef: crunchy pancakes with a great portion of beef and hoisin sauce; so delicious!!! 2. Pork and Vegetable Wontons in Chili Sauce: the chili sauce has peanut butter in it, and is so unique and flavorful, with just the right amount of kick 3. Sweet Tofu Pudding: the tofu is sooo smooth, and a great way to start off the meal 4. Beef Noodle Soup: the broth is so flavorful and delicious, with plenty of beef, and the chewy noodles are amazing 5. Red Bean Puffs: crispy, flaky shell with ample sweet red bean paste inside. A great dessert to end the meal with. Other Dishes we've ordered: 1. Chive Dumplings: they are a bit greasy, but tasty and flavorful 2. Spicy Beef and Tripe: very palatable, but too oily and heavy for us 3. Crab Soup Dumplings: these are good, but not as good as the og pork soup dumplings. The broth is oilier and fishier in these. And they give you complimentary pudding at the end! Prices are cheap and the service is extremely fast -- I'm talking ten minutes tops before you get your first dish. They don't take reservations though, so it may be long wait before you are seated. Will be coming back next month :)
Shanghai You Garden has 2 locations - 1 in Flushing and 1 in Bayside, NY. The Bayside location opened in 2018. I've been to both locations a few times during the past years. Unfortunately, you can start seeing the wear and tear at the Bayside location. We were seated at one of the booths and the seats were deeply creased and starting to peel. Fortunately, the food and service quality have not changed throughout the years though. Everything is still on point! The soup dumplings are always a must get! There are so many different flavors now. My go to is the Soup Dumpling w. Crab Meat & Pork that comes in 6. The juice from the crab meat and pork is very tasty. We also got the pan fried noodle w Shredded Chicken. This was too saucy for me and didn't enjoy it too much. I think I would prefer sticking with the udon noodle or rice cake. The dine-in only promotion still exists where you can choose one 1 order of Pork Soup Dumpling or Peking Duck Bun (1 piece per person at the table) when you spend $10 or more. We chose the pork soup dumplings since it was more cost effective. My husband was craving the Peking Duck Bun so we ordered 1 of those. After the meal, they brought over two bowls of complimentary traditional Shanghainese dessert (fermented wine rice ball). Shanghai You Garden is cash only so be prepared to bring cash or you can run to Citibank on Bell Blvd or use the ATM in 7-11 across the street.
